KALININGRAD RUSSIA - English tourist guide

Please like share and subscribe to TrekTrendy for more worldwide travel vlogs: http://bit.ly/1WNqym8 I had the opportunity to visit Kaliningrad for a long weekend, and my word what a place! It's notoriously quite time consuming from a British perspective to get a Russian visa, but there's an exception for overland travel to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad whereby you can get issues a 72hour tourist visa. I used a recomended Travel agent, Uni-tours.ru for the application who were very helpful and went beyond to help me get my visa. Hope you enjoy the vlog, plenty more upcoming! Comment below if you have anywhere particular you want me to visit! Cheers - Will

The city is modern and well kept-what sustains the economy?

Tourism, Federal Investments, Amber (to an extent), Fishing, Agriculture (even though its not big enough to do fully, thus some imports are required), Trade

remember the Prussian forts as you call them  were not built in Kaliningrad as you say.   they were German/Prussian built for what was then Koenigsberg.  The Germans  surrendered there    in  May,  1945.   However  as far as  I know it was not named Kaliningrad  until  1946.    So  you could date  it as Russian territory  from  May, 1945.  If  something was built before then , and " inherited "  by the conquerers  it obviously could not have been built  for or in " Kaliningrad"  ie, it is  rather an "inherited  item"  .  Otherwise  liked your vlog. Good to know about the  72  hour visa if you enter by bus.   I was not aware of that . Also thanks for the  tip on what agency to use.   Otherwise  the regular Russian   visa is  very costly and time consuming.   Thanks for that tip.

hi guy , thanks for the tip about the 72 hour visa not being available anymore, actually i went on the website you gave but it was all in russian only, my friend from russia went on it and they were no longer offering the 72 hour visa, as you said, i lived about 2004 one whole summer in Rastenburg ( Ketrzyn) near the border to Kalingradskie Oblast but only Polish ID holders could go over for the day and western passport holders could no t go into there for the day. thanks for saying hi; they need western and PL tourists desperately and its such a shame that they dont promote it with a better tourist card availability. be well, R.

Thanks for letting me know roberto :) i find it such an interesting and unique place. I have been informed that since going, they no longer offer the 72 hour visa which is a real shame. Hopefully they'll reinstate something soon or else as you say, it's a costly and lengthy procedure.

Nice video. Into mic could be better but well edited :) a bit different to Bournemouth. Have you been to Bognor Regis?

Thanks for the kind words dude - and yes true that the audio is frustrating however since this trip I now have a new camera which has far better audio than the go pro used here so watch out for new vlogs incoming (Qatar is coming up!) Still need to do that Bognor vlog :P
