The tree was by Christo which is the tree in his home in the highlands as the show progresses the execution of the clothes is perfection he was a master the one True master who runs circles around the garbage in the runways today. Saw these in person and the show does not do them justice.

I was sceptic about figure in cubism but black part of this show improve my vision and attitude. It's a pity that man with robots on stage has no HD video on youtube.

People complaining about how unexpressive and thin these models are, they should go and see what they have nowadays, 12 years old.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE AFRO WIGS? I TOTALLY DISLIKED THIS FASHION SHOW. THE CLOTHES LOOK MORE LIKE STAGE COSTUMES NOT CLOTHES TO WEAR IN REALITY.
NanaPearl pearl (5 months ago)
Yvonne Bryant what kind of events/or clubs going on over there for the rich people where they would be dressing like this. I'm curious and interested.

I don't really understand what's going on with the soundtrack. Is this a recording of the soundtrack at the actual event, or is it the same songs as the event layered onto the video? I've watched different versions of this show before watching this one. The most effective one musically is the one posted by Yukikoandthe, especially soon after the 6 minute mark where the music changes and it starts the long transition into the moment of the dark stage followed by the parade of regalia. In that version, the transition is accomplished with the very strong regal Classical choral music that starts at the 10:00 mark here. When was that music used at the event? Its sad if it wasn't used for the transition as it was in the other version. It was so wonderfully timed and perfectly powerful in that version. In that version, you can also hear the applause of the audience during the last song as all the models reenter the stage, and the timing of the song is a little different from this version, so it seems like that version has the actual soundtrack at the moment. Unfortunately, the audio on that version doesn't start until the 40 second mark--which is a great loss--nice to hear it here--and that video suffers with video artifacts at a couple of moments. I wish there was a version with the other's musical arrangement, but complete from the start, in uncorrupted HQ like this one, but with more mid-tone detail. I LOVE this show. It deserves a perfected documentation. McQueen is now a great hero for me. I've just recently discovered him here at YT. RIP, Alexander. You were great.

Unfortunately the Yukikoandthe video of this show is gone from all my saves so I suppose he's been kicked off You Tube, but you're right. His was the only accurate upload around but there used to be many other You Tubers who had also uploaded the genuine show with the actual soundtrack, users like the Fashion Channel that had the show broken up into 3 parts because that's when the videos couldn't be more than 5 minutes long. At one point all were deleted by You Tube probably for copyright reasons. I heard that after McQueen died, all the music was taken down from the videos of his shows on his website so only You Tubers who downloaded from his site before then have the real McCoy. It looked like Yukikoandthe taped the show from his tv because the screen was so small, and I'll bet he muted the sound the first 40 seconds to fool the censors.

+tryptala actually this is the original soundtrack of the real fashion show and alexander mcqueen talked about this show in an interview and he said he was inspired by a 600 yr oak in his backyard and created the context of a girl who lives in a tree( i'm assuming she's some sort of tree spirit or other) who falls in love with a prince, and marries him to become the queen of the kingdom - hence the british colonial/indian style, over exuberant jewels and the handel's coronation mass soundtrack. i'm with you on the start though, why a. mcq decided to put a violin version of nirvana is beyond me, but the entire soundtrack isn't all irrelevant to the show
tryptala (3 years ago)
8:29 She is so damn beautiful! I don't mean just the model. I mean the dress especially, and the model's expression, the way she carries herself, the gait, the jewelry, the hairstyle, the lighting, the minimal makeup, the accompanying music...aesthetics at its highest. The HQ is very nice, but the sharp contrast loses a lot of detail of the clothing because of the black on black in a lot of cases, but with this dress, the sharp contrast really reveals how beautiful it is. Thank you!

It is actually a reference to Bram Stocker's Dracula. It's when Keanu Reeves meets Dracula inside the castle and Dracula leads him towards the dinning room. He is wearing something like that and holds a light lamp.

I have just watched the thierry mugler's fashion show in 1997 the models were gorgeous women with personnality and curves they were allowed to smile, to play with the outfit it was a real show. Then i put this one and i'am so boring looking at it and see this sequeletics people made me sic they have no expression on their face its verry sad to watch
Mari M (6 months ago)
stop hating... McQueen didn't have giggly smiling fashion.. it was more dark and beautiful
Laroling (6 months ago)
while I appreciate real women and all that, and I am a pretty imperfect woman myself, I do have to disagree with you. Their certain stylized behaviour, their silhouette, it helps, along with the clothing themselves to transport you to an otherworldly place, where there's maybe no humanity. It's in this case the land of the royals and the gods, fantasy and folklore. Smiling normal women just wouldn't fit this experience...despite that I wouldn't call them dead and lifeless, they have clearly been instructed to strut a certain way, with royal arrogance of sorts. Sure I hope there can be more versatility in the fashion world. Not everyone needs to make high art and all that, or maybe some can find a balance where they can use all shapes and sized and colors and still get you to a special place, it just depends on all the assets of the show and how an artist is able to balance it. (Beside that I do hope people will stop bashing white panties and ballerinas or find a way to accept different fashion on the real streets, I friggin love those white panties and stockings and I want to wear them with this embroidery gown, people keep on friggin staring though....ugh.)
PatisserieBoy (11 months ago)
Not all art is happy and peppy....this is drama, its solemn, its dark, its fantasy....these women are allowed to smile too, just not during this presentation. Its an expression of the artist and the models are getting paid to perform. There are details in the clothing, styling and set design that provide interest without there having to be obvious aspects like bright color or overt movement. Try and look a little deeper than just "they're moving slowly so its boring". Humans are complex beings, not everything has to be the same.

Umm that's disgugung to say! Target!? How dareu indult women! No woman wants to look like a emanciated prepubescent boy and the attention idnt on besuty hence why they choose ugly tall sticks with no figure or beauty
Nick Sakai (1 year ago)
Georgia Finnigan Exactly. If you're looking for something so-called "real", go to Michael Kors or Marc Jacobs. I'm not knocking them. I like them too. World is big enough to accommodate both camps
