Share Files & Folders Between Your Host Machine and VirtualBox

1658 ratings | 424825 views
The easiest way to do this is to simply create a shared folder on the computer then create a network connection to it on the Virtual Machine. http://www.avoiderrors.net/?p=10711

There is a more easier way.. In the VM click on Machine then go to Settings Then Open the " Advanced " tab You'll see a drag and drop option there click on it and choose between Host to Guest or Guest to Host then just Drag and Drop your files

Make it easier and just share an entire Drive just right click on My Computer and select Map Network Drive and then find the shared folder you just set up and then create a short cut and then drag that short cut to the desktop.

Hey thanks for the video, very well explained. Problem is I can see the disk i'm trying to access (host machine) in the drop down menu of the vm devices ('Add Share') and I can click 'Make Permanent' etc... and click OK but then I open my PC folders and it's not there??? What am I missing? Funnily enough I mapped OK to another drive on my host machine so just puzzled as to why I can't see this drive that I'm trying to access now. Any ideas bro? Thanks for your time, cheers Ray

I know this is a year old, but for anyone with the same problem- When you click "Insert Guest Addition CD Image", go to "This PC" and you'll see a CD mounted next to your C: drive and things. Open it up and click on the .exe for your system. (32 or 64 bit) Mine were about 10MB and 16MB respectively. Then you can follow the rest of his instructions like normal.
Alexandre Esquenet (7 months ago)
It actually appears in my computer, you have to open it ^^

To anyone still having this problem, G0rilla2829's solution works. I struggled for hours with this but auto-mounting the shared folder fixes it. There is now a network folder when i click "My Computer"
