Yes! All the yes!

The thing is that people that either didnt buy the vita or the 3DS really missed out on some great games. I ended up putting more hours into the vita i think and i really wish it did better.
Lockon stratos (10 months ago)
How are you going to talk about the vita but use a DS in the thumbnail?

Generic thumbnail I use for rants...see my other videos...

It's NOT the end, at all. Far from it. There are other ways, ya know.

Ps vita still could come
EmoTi.on.s (11 months ago)
No, they are still releasing physical games
Teddie (11 months ago)
What doomed the Vita was proprietary storage. Had people been allowed to use their own micro sd cards without having to hack it and buy an adapter, it would have sold a lot better. Also, Sony lost a good amount of money from the original fat Vita, they spent too much on parts, so they had to use cheaper parts for the Slim, which I'm sure ticked off a lot of people, despite it being completely justified.

They should bring the PS Vita back

I love the vita 😍😍. I wish sony supported it better with more first party games
Leonardo di parma (1 year ago)
Loved your video , I still hold on to my PS vita slim and there's a plethora of good games in there that you won't ever see on the switch like psone games , remote play and even some indies like hotline Miami , you forgot to mention that the proprietary memory stick being so high expensive also contributed to the vita demise , fingers crossed for a successor , the psp was truly revolutionary at the time and Sony handled , although was light years ahead of Nintendo , the switch model finally caught up to the technology, Sony needs to come up with something stronger and affordable and needs more third party support

The Vita is an awesome handheld console, way underestimated by many people.
juzuvloke (1 year ago)
I disagree... I want God of war, shooters & God of war on the go. Sony got way too greedy in price & then abandoned it! Strait up! Fuck you sony! Fix this!

Awesome video! I heard Sony is still experimenting with handheld gaming, plus with the switch, it has no competition, and I know eventually Sony won't be able to ignore it.

VITA = My favorite JRPG Machine ;)
Wessam Hamadneh (1 year ago)
I don't think we'll be getting a successor... Honestly, I feel the Vita is future proof with it's strong hardware and software. I'm still playing it and enjoying it... But now I gotta buy more physical games. And I loved my 3ds for 3-4yrs ...but it's been on the shelf for a long time ... I enjoy the Vita more. And the switch ... Wasn't made to compete with the Vita..it's a great console on its own.
lnsflare1 (1 year ago)
Point: a version of the PSP could output to the TV, not to mention that it could Remote Play some PS3 games, especially the digital PS1 games. And of course, PSTV.
DANIEL C (1 year ago)
Honestly, I think Vita is the last we would see for a Sony Handheld. It is not me being selfish for vita being a collectible but rather, Sony would not want to compete anymore in the handheld market. They went all in for the vita and it is just in no competition with Nintendo, Sony just wont fight a battle they know they would never be able to win. Ofcuz I would want to have a handheld from Sony cuz Vita is my fav handheld ever, but the possibility of that is very low unfortunately. come to my channel if you want to see my review of the vita which I bought in 2018 p.s. Sony confirms no hardware will be showing at E3 this year. Handheld is ofcuz out of the question, they probably wont even mention about it. I weep for my vita.

Vita hasn't been relevant for 2 years now. Don't see the issue...and no, Sony is done with portables
Phantom Baphomet (1 year ago)
I Like both the PSVita and the Switch. Been playing Secret of Mana 2 like crazy on the Switch (Seiken Densetsu Collection) in Japanese though but i know little Japanese.
civilwarfare101 (1 year ago)
I don't really play portable games much anymore. I found the AAA games for the PSP to be more interesting than the Vita's library.
Drowning Lemming (1 year ago)
Japan will still receive physical games.
Zen Zero (1 year ago)
I have to wonder if the PS5 might have some kind of portable element to it. Not exactly a hybrid console, but maybe the controller would look like a PSVita and be capable of taking the PS5 games with you. Perhaps streaming PS5 games to the PS5 controller or to be capable of downloading Vita games to the controller and then using it as a regular handheld console.
TrapKid Gaming (1 year ago)
I don't want to buy a Ps vita now lol. Vita seems like Japan is only developing games for it, only thing you can use vita for is remote play... Period, Sony is gonna leave that portable behind with the Ps plus store tooken off

Fxck Nintendo

PlayStation should not give up on the ps vita it is still good console also this will help the ps4
rob13589 (1 year ago)
If Sony was to make a console portable and able to connect to your television it wouldn't be the first time. They did it with the Vita. And then Nintendo came out with the switch and did it better. Kind of. It's pretty neat you can access your PS4 through your Vita as well. I just don't see Sony sitting back and letting Nintendo get all the market for handhelds. They're too good at what they do in I believe PlayStation will have something great in the handheld Market come out in the next 2 or 3 years. Maybe sooner I hope anyway. I love my switch but I'm a Sony fanboy and I love PlayStation. But I own Xbox and Sony and Nintendo and I'll play video games if they're good no matter who manufactures them but I prefer Sony. It's pretty clear that no one makes better console or games then PlayStation they are the clear-cut winner right now

Sony was a dick to the poor little ps vita like it a was the mistake child they had

I hated people said the 🎚 is a handheld is 🚓 out . Also if Sony is going the making a handheld name is PS5P is a hybrid console like the 🎚but, unlike the 🎚 the PS5P have dual medials are disc and cart.
Arie Ortiz (1 year ago)
The thing that I am kinda wondering about is how long will they continue to allow digital games to be released in the us? In my personal opinion, I think they should at least allow digital titles to be released until the end of the PS4 life, as I've heard it doesnt take much effort to release a game on there digitally if it is on other platforms.
Vegito Charmara (1 year ago)
The Switch needs competition, or they will have no reason to improve it. I need a Vita sequel in my life. Also the Switch has 2 hours of battery, its a terrible handheld, 3 hours at best. My Vita slim lasts 7 hours and never gets hot.

Excellent video. By the way, the PSP sold more units than the 3DS on the long run.

I guess at worst Limited Run Games is still putting out Vita games and will as long as the little carts are available.  I'm a bum though since I avoided the Vita mostly over the price and the memory being such a joke in price.
otome cow (1 year ago)
So they won't be releasing anymore physical visual novel card and jrpg games for the vita anymore ? 😭
mogwai_for_sale (1 year ago)
sony already confirmed there will be no hardware at e3 this year. maybe next year, though, but i feel like a new handheld is still a longshot.

Hey Femtrooper, just to give you a heads up. My friend and I are heading down to Calgary for the Calgary Horror Con which is taking place from June 2nd to June 3rd. I am going to be down there from June 1st to June 4th. If you and your husband ever wanted to head out for supper just let me know, but I don't want take you away from your free time and more than anything I want to be respectful. If you could tell me what the best retro video game store in the area is it would be greatly appreciated. I don't own a Vita, but I do eventually want to own the system because much like the psp, it has an awesome one of a kind library of anime style games especially when it comes to jrpg's and visual novels. All good systems eventually come to an end, but I get the feeling that the vita could of lasted a little longer if they took the time to really understand the audience that would enjoy the vita. One of the reasons why I loved the psp is because it was one of the few systems that gave me the same feeling that the ps1 gave me with regards to its jrpg content. I don't think the vita could of been successful from a mainstream point of view, but they could of lasted a little longer by focusing on the games that its niche audience wanted to play instead of trying to find a way to appeal to a mass amount of video game players. Regardless, the vita still has some amazing one of a kind content that you can't find on any other system and its going to be very important for bringing a lot of obscure anime style games to the west that wouldn't of found a home on any other video game system.
TheCompletionist (1 year ago)
I'm not too worried about price. I have to put that fort mcmurray money to good use and I'm so strict about what i buy nowadays - I'm just perfectly fine nailing down one of my high demand games even if its a little on the pricey side.
TheCompletionist (1 year ago)
Any recommendations on a record store femtrooper, my wife and I are vinyl collectors so she always has a list for me every time I travel to a city.
femtrooper (1 year ago)
Hey! Video Game Trader is probably the best retro gaming store but it can be expensive. They have a lot though! That’s neat you’re coming to Calgary! Retro video game stores are lacking but we have lots of record stores and comic shops!
VKnowles Mashups (1 year ago)
I think that sony should make another handheld console with great games, powerful enough to receive triple a tittles and most importantly, that supports SD CARDS!!!!! The big reason why the vita failed was the sony exclusive memory cards.
Raccoon's Cave (1 year ago)
The Vita will never die. I have 2 Vitas, a PS TV, and over 100 physical Vita games, so I'll be playing this handheld for the rest of my life. Just like I still play my PSP, 3DS, DS, GBA, etc... As long as you can play games on a console, its not dead. I'll be dedicating the next year to picking up as many of the remaining physical Vita games I want that I don't have yet. And Limited Run Games still has over 30 Vita games left to come out. Plus production hasn't stopped on cartridges in Asia, so I imagine play-asia will still be coming out with new games for quite a bit longer.
*playasia not a publisher just a big webshop, who buys asian game releases and shipping worldwide.
Kuan Lee (1 year ago)
Very good motivational speech for a system that's on its death bed.
Raccoon's Cave its dead to the gaming industry's but alive with gamers
Raccoon's Cave (1 year ago)
Limited Run has largely been keeping the Vita alive for the past couple of years (along with play-asia and some of the other smaller limited release companies). I would never go for a full collection, I only buy games which I genuinely want to play. The Vita just consistently gets the types of games I like, notably JRPGs and shmups.
Vegito Charmara (1 year ago)
Best comment ever. I want to complete the NTSC U collection for the Vita, minus Limited Run of course. I have about 20ish so far. What cool is that most Vita games are amazing, barely any shovelware!
ClasheR's World (1 year ago)
I’m confident that Sony will not give up on Japan and will have another handheld. I’m just really hoping that Sony will finally put a damn SD card slot on it
DANIEL C (1 year ago)
ClasheR's World I hope so too but they didnt want to because they want to make money off proprietary memory format, or their excuse of not allowing hackers to run games off memory cards which totally failed if you know how they figured how to by using the game slot and an sd adapter.

Playing Persona 4 Golden on my Vita as I listen! RIP Vita. I bought my sister a Switch and I have one too. I’m not a big sharer but I wanted multiplayer Splatoon 2 and things like that. I can’t imagine ever SHARING my Switch. Slap Persona 5 on the next Vita, PS2 games with dual triggers, maybe set up similar to the N3DS. It’ll sell like hot cakes. Everyone I talk to, it’s not a Vita but a P4G machine. I doubt it’ll be this generation that we get a sequel to the Vita, maybe halfway through the PS5? I want one though! Prefer Sony exclusives over Nintendo. Don’t tell my Switch.
PunkSoupBlueWood (1 year ago)
Like you mentioned in the video, I'll play my Vita in public and occasionally someone asks me what my system is and they're shocked they never heard about this "PSP 2" that came out way back in 2011. That tells me that Sony's marketing was as bad as Nintendo with the Wii U.
DubiousGamingOnline (1 year ago)
On the bright side for those of us who are trying to get a complete vita collection we now know how many games we have to find.... sad though. vita is my fav console of all time.

I really hope that Stardew valley get a physical release.
awesomestuff81 (1 year ago)
Yeah I don't think it won't be I really want it!
Brandon McNeill (1 year ago)
awesomestuff81 doubtful. from what I understand it’s not even getting the multiplayer patch. I bought a Switch just for it, then branched out to everything else.

Tis a solid system. I recently sold my little collection. I'd get a PS Vita 2. Bring it on sony. Lower case "s". Salute to Femtrooper. Forward! March!
lucky collector (1 year ago)
Does this mean Sony isn't going to be making the carts for the vita anymore? I know limited run has like 30 vita games planned at least
Cleve Crudgington (1 year ago)
I'm a big fan of the Vita and I'd love a successor but I don't feel optimistic about it happening any time soon. Considering how badly the Vita did and the fact that a successor would be going toe to toe with the Switch, I just can't see Sony taking that risk. Hate to say it but I think the Switch is going to be the one handheld for the time being.
electricmastro (1 year ago)
If anything, I'm really interested in seeing the ripple effect caused by this rock of a "home handheld" Nintendo has thrown into the lake, in that how Sony and Microsoft choose to respond to the Switch.
Teddie (11 months ago)
The Switch is dying, there is problem after problem, and broken promises. Although then again, the 3DS had a rocky start as well, but has been selling very well after a while.
William Hollenbaugh (1 year ago)
Vita's successor will have remote play for PS4 and PS5 games. Also, a wireless video out via bluetooth or WiFi to play the handheld's games on a big screen.
Hailen Ace (1 year ago)
I don't have any playstation consoles, I only have their mobile :/. It's kind of impossible for me to even play on tv because EVERYONE IS USING THE FUCKIN TV.
William Hollenbaugh (1 year ago)
Ha Ha! I see what you did there...
sleight sloth (1 year ago)
William Hollenbaugh sony clearly stated that they will leave the portable industry to nintendo..so..percentage for a new sony's portable is less than nothing..
Traxx Zero (1 year ago)
William Hollenbaugh -I wish that will happen.
VapeyGamer (1 year ago)
When it comes to vita my main issue was always the expensive proprietary memory. I paid $60 for 32gb card that didnt last even a year and sony wouldnt even cover the warranty. After that I just sold my vita since that was last straw but there were other things like playing wolf among us it would lag on every decision so it never felt smooth even though my bargain cell phone could play it better. Also lack of sony support in general only made it way worse. I mean if i spent millions in R&D the product would not just get such bad support that sony gave it truly a half hearted effort at best from them and sales suffered. I wish vita had done better but if they would have just used micro sd cards and actually kept supporting the system it couldve done better than psp. As for me any device pushing proprietary anything im very wary of especially when it comes to memory cards. If sony makes a vita successor with proprietary memory cards i will not even bother with it at all. Im not getting burned again because sony cant be bothered to support their own warranty.
Ednardo M.Toledo (1 year ago)
Yeah, I'm with you! I remember you mentioning Reverie and how you like it and I went check it out and its price. There is pretty much nothing coming out for it! Man! Games like owlboy, wonder boy dragons trap, raiden V, they're all games I wish I could play on it since the releases for the switch are too expensive. But NO! Apperently Sony doesn't like money. Why are they not pushing the console? The vita is so neat! I love it. What a shame they're letting it die. One of these day somebody was pointing out Stranded: a Mars Adventure, I got in the App Store on my phone and found it there, the Vita is in such a bad place that even stupid phone runners are taken for a new release on it... Great vid, Paige, the Femtrooper. Love you channel. Too late to say ''go, Vita', though, IMO.
Wave Play (1 year ago)
Also, physical games ending doesn't mean the Vita is dead. It's a console that's been "future-proofed" through the good digital store and all games available digitally. I'm exclusively digital (partly because in my country, physical Vita games are basically unavailable) and don't feel like I'm missing out. Also, we're getting Stardew Valley, Catherine, Bloodstained and more games in the very near future, so I'd guess the Vita has at least a year or two left in it.
Wave Play (1 year ago)
referral madness can't disagree there. I'm digital only (no physical available in my country) and have a 8gb card. It's a pain, I can basically store 2 biggish games at once. I guess it forces me to focus on the games I'm playing, to actually finish what I started? Haha it's so sad
referral madness (1 year ago)
Wave Play the annoying thing about going digital only with the vita is not only are the 64GB cards super expensive, 64GB is too low realistically in this day & age the vita should have a 256GB or 512GB card available
phlip_lip (1 year ago)
Wave Play or even more...
Marcus O (1 year ago)
Hi Paige how are you? I'm Marcus and I'm a New Fan nice to meet you, it is sad the PlayStation Vita is not going to get more Games, I loved the PSP but I didn't get the Chance to get The Vita, but once I do I will enjoy it, but hopefully the Vita will have Downloaded Games on it's Network. But if they make a Third PlayStation Handheld System that would be cool, the First Game to be included in it's Gaming Kit should be a Fourth Jak and Dexter Game, that would be a Surprise to Old and New Fans of the Console and I would love to see our Dynamic Duo again😀😀😀😀. From Marcus a New Friend and New Fan, by the way Paige you are very Beautiful like a Gaming Angel😊😊🌹🌹
Wave Play (1 year ago)
I think in a few years, Nintendo could make a Switch slim or something like that. Undockable, smaller form factor, basically just like the Vita and that could be a good variant
My 2bar (1 month ago)
That is exactly what I am waiting to happen, love my Vita but need a good successer, and with Sony cencoring every fan service game, I'm going to swap to Nintendo, which ironically considering their past no longer cencores, lol.
Wave Play (1 year ago)
The way that Sony kept going on and on about console games on handheld always infuriated me. The PSP was like that too. The best games on the PSP and Vita were always the ones that leveraged the nature of the console being handheld and not the ones that aped home console level graphics the best.
mtshark7 (1 year ago)
Awesome video femtrooper! I think a new Playstation handheld would be sweet :-)
Peter Parker (1 year ago)
Just get rid of cartridges & give it the scent of a handheld PS One. It makes total sense to market it as 'nostalgia' emulation platform. I hate the weird cartoonish RPG whatever : VINTAGE TITLES PLZ !
