Alexander McQueen S/S RTW 1999, No. 13

502 ratings | 104104 views
This show was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, and it ended with the model Shalom Harlow rotating on a turntable, wearing a white dress, being spray-painted by two industrial robots. Shalom Harlow trained as a ballerina. It is often said that the inspiration behind the collection was the dying swan, but in actual fact the inspiration came from an installation by the artist Rebecca Horn of two machine guns firing paint at each other.

Dla lepszego efektu można było modelką zastrzelić, albo walnąć jakim kamieniem

It's so super-duper "artistic" the audience almost can't stand it!

Please tell me that godawful music wasn't part of the exhibition. Ear rape right there.
Robert Mccaffrey (7 months ago)
No, the music was Camille Saint-Saëns’ ‘The Swan’ - a classical music piece to contrast the electronic music played through the main presentation.

No shade...can someone tell me how it's powerful and genius, or is that interpretation?? I saw a reference to it on rupaul drag race, just wondering general thoughts?

ANGIE ALL DAY Before McQueen no one thought of fashion in terms of performance art. His fashion shows weren’t just models walking down a runway. What he did was always theatrical, always pushing fashion forward. It’s an artistic genius. It’s about thinking differently and creatively and it inspires others to do the same. This dress symbolizes that fierce mind he had. It puts a fire under everyone’s ass to do better and to think outside of the box. That’s why he is a genius.
