How to fix "insufficient privileges to access this directory" error

258 ratings | 159854 views
Problem: While installing a program, the user receives the following error message: "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory". Solution: 1. manually create the required folder, 2. download the compressed registry file : ► https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw-8fzdMfWSFREZUTzZqNFROWkk 3. extract the contents to a folder you like, 4. double-click the "Take Ownership.reg" file to add it to the Windows Registry, 5. go to the folder that you manually created, right-click on it, click "Take ownership" 6. try to continue the setup, click Retry.

Seems to have worked for alot of people but me!! I'm trying to install a premium poker software called Jivaro. I followed all the steps to it, and when I click retry it then tells me that there is another folder within the first folder that I have created that isn't there, I then create that file and click retry and it then tells me there is an error writing a file?? Many thanks

Worked great man, thank you. I'm pretty handy with Windows tweaks and workarounds and this is the first time I've ever run into this problem (also with VirtualBox) it's probably an issue with the installation instructions themselves, but this works great! I have no clue why so many thumbs down on here
