Here's how I created a kinky straight, blunt cut bob using...
1. X-pression kanekalon braiding hair (less than 1 pck)
2. Hair elastics/rubber bands (the soft ones)
3. A crochet needle
Did I mention I only spent $5?? And depending on your local beauty supply store, you may even spend less!
I know the video is long, but the tutorial lasts for less than 6 minutes...that's how quick and easy this style is.The last few minutes is just me going over some important details you may want to know.
Btw, my hair is natural, but in this video it had been flat ironed a week prior to the crochet install
I should have mentioned in the video, that when I searched to see if this style was already created, I found that there are videos with the rubber band technique! I just couldn't find if there are any with this kinky straight look.
P.S. Thanks Jazz Nicole for the inspiration!! Check out her videos if you haven't already
I'll see you soon with more content ;)
Q: How long does this style last?
A: I suggest leaving it in no longer than 2 weeks. I don't think it's good to leave your natural hair out any longer than that...don't want it getting dry
Q: Can this hair only be worn down?
A: It all depends on where you make your leave-out
Q: Do the elastics break?
A: Mine have not. But that is only because I doubled and trippled them
Q: Is your hair natural or relaxed?
A: I'm all natural baby!!!
Q: Can this style be done using different texture extensions?
A: Yes! Just make your hair match the texture of the extensions
Q: Will I be making more videos, showing different styles using this method?
A: Yuh don kno! Leave your suggestions in the comments section ;)
*Please remember that I am NOT a professional hairstylist. I just have a huge LOVE for hair. This technique still needs a lottt of improvement, but I figured it would be more fun if I brought you hair lovers on this journey with me. You guys are the best! Your support means the world to me*

I just want to say thank you for this wonderful tutorial this is amazing. I know it takes like 4 hours down to like 2 hours but you your amazing. I'm tired of buying synthetic wigs that are two thin and don't kast. I can get synthetic hair and create my own weave which is bette4 then a wig once it's done it saves time and your done
I really can't see because it's sooo dark. I think I have the idea... but maybe bright colored elastics for the tutorial would have been easier seen.. I really like it but I can't see ittt .. you look so beautiful !!!!! ❤️❤️

Hi girl hey!!! u just got a new subbie. I can't cane row and I'm very creative. so I thought of doing this. but then I was like haven't seen this on YouTube! so I went and got it checked out. ur the only one I've seen do it like this. All the best sweet heart!!!
wow I my be late for video date.my lady I have not seen no one but you do this fast technique in fast crochet braiding you rock it big kudos to you young lady for in venturing on taking it to a whole new different level wow wow wow is all I can say you're the only one I seen do this
+rocky brocky Hey girl. Whatever hair you choose to use must match the texture of your natural hair. When I straightened my hair (as it was in this video), I had to use X-pression extensions because it was a perfect match. So, in sum, the textures of both natural and synthetic hair must match...think of it like clip in hair extensions. Hope this helps
+benotdecived2013 Heyy, thanks for watching and subscribing! Check out my Marley Braiding hair video, you'll see more clearly how I did the front. I honestly can't remember how many boxes I made, but I think I had around 6-8 in the front row. I'll also be posting a video with another style tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! 😊
+coilyme LOL! Glad I could help 😁If you run into any problems with exposed elastics, leave some rows of leave-out like I did in my Marley Braiding hair video (it's so much easier that way). Thanks for watching!! ❤️
+Tamara Harris It's actually a combination of Prestige "spice" liner, essence "hot chocolate" liner, a Kate nude lipstick and some concealer...and maybe I added something else lol. I'm always combining a bunch of shades on my lips
this looks really good girl. i totally am interested and maybe doing this to my hair cause i just need new styles. my question is like once you do the knot from crocheting it. how do you hide it and so that it just looks good as yours in the video. because yea. yours just blends. it looks natural. so please let me know. thanks! 😍
+Tyshonna Halbert Hey Hun! I'm glad you like the style 😊 I hid the elastics and knots two ways: #1 I used the knotless method at the top of my head (if it's too difficult to see in this video due to the lighting, check out my latest video using the Marley braiding hair) and #2 I used my natural hair as leave-out in between the boxes to hide all elastics/knots. I explained how I did it at the end of this video because I ran into some issues with elastics showing. BUT check out my latest video, I figured out a (less ghetto) way to hide them 🙂 I'm referring to the rows of leave out I made in between each row of elastics. Hope this helps! ❤️
+Anastasia Osborne Hey girl! I actually saw the video you're talking about. She used the #jazznicolemethod (Jazz Nicole was the first person to ever come up with it on YouTube). I was inspired by her and put a twist on it by using elastics instead for ppl who don't want to do individual plaits 🙂 Thanks so much for watching!!
I have been trying to figure out how I could use this rubber band method. Thank you thank you thank you!!! I would use it as a protective, style because I would connect my ponytail with rubber bands in smaller sections and use the crochet needle to add the hair. I can't wait!!!
I've never seen it done quite like this before...Never with one pack of braiding hair...and never with real hair left out...that was the difference in all of the other videos that I've seen...so I think that this would n considered an original idea...very good idea...Im definitely doing this bc sometimes we need our hair done and it falls between a broke period and I can afford 5$ so thanx for this 😘 very creative.
+Brittany Williams I ended up taking mine out just two days after because I had an event to go to where my hair needed to be in a sleek ponytail. But, I really think that it would have lasted for about 2 weeks...longer or shorter, depending on how well you maintain it
+nwigbo Josephine Hey girl, thanks for watching 😊 As for the front, I explained it better in my newest video. The lighting is a lot better too. If you still have questions after that, don't hesitate to ask again
The Pelham Family You definitely can do this on your own :) And I'm also natural, so I had to flat iron my hair for this style. I've never tried curly weave, but I did try Marley braiding hair on a fresh braid out in my newest video
Ms P Np! I didn't plan on putting it into a ponytail, so just the front 🙂 But I strongly suggest you do thin rows of leave out in between each row of boxes so you don't run into the same issue that I did (which I mentioned at the end of the video i.e. exposed elastics). If you don't know what I mean, you'll see it in my new video which I will be posting in a few hours 😁😁
I actually just finished editing my latest video with this method using Marley Braiding hair! I'm gonna post it in a few hours, and I promise the lighting is a lot better :) I'm so happy you're going to try it
thank you i was thinking about doing something like this cause im too lazy to do individual plats on my short hair. I saw jazz nicole and i want to try that but im lazy and my arms will give out blah blah blah lol. like you i thought about just using rubber bands and i happen to see this video in my timeline.....so thank you thank you
F or 25 years we have provided deluxe wilderness outpost fishing trips from our Armstrong location into beautiful Wabakimi Provincial Park and surrounding lakes.
Yes, we take you where the fishing is extraordinary , but there is more than fishing. Yearly family gatherings sharing a wilderness experience in comfort. Father - son (or daughter) bonding trips or Husband and wife celebrating a second honeymoon with the added spectacular outpost fishing or `the buddy trips where the tall tales get taller.
Its a big time stress reliever! . how do you think about anything else when you are fighting a fish?
Greg and I had a great week. we caught over 1000 walleye. There were well over 200 in the slot size (>18"). This is the most large walleye that have ever been caught on a trip to whiteclay for me. The slot size protection is working. It seems that each trip has more large fish being caught. Our largest northern was 43". It was caught on a jig while walleye fishing.
Greg and I sent see what you missed letters to about a dozen folks. Hope that translates into a large group for next June. . Fran and I are looking forward to the August fishing trip .

Received your card. Congratulations on 25 Years! We speak often about the great times we had at Ogoki! A Tribute to you both!
Best Regards, Rich Craddock.
What a nice surprise to find your post card in my mail yesterday. Twenty-five years is a long time to do anything; much less a business like yours with all the uncertainties of weather, exchange-rates, two-country economies, etc. There is a reason why your business has survived and (hopefully) thrived. you do the wilderness fishing experience better than anyone in the outdoor sport vacation business.
Dear Judy and Paul,
Congratulations on 25 years. I have many fond memories of my time with Jack at Ogoki. Hope all is well with you.
. . . Nicole will take you on a guided tour!
This website will take you every step of the way for a worry free fishing vacation!
Let us introduce ourselves; Judy & Paul Boucher and family. Weve been doing this for 25 years and have learned a thing or two on how to take the worry out of the wilderness experience. Our staff will help you with anything you may not understand or solve any mechanical glitch right away. In short: we treat you like family!
Just a note to let you know our recent fishing junket to your Mojikit South Outpost.
Ive been coming to Armstrong area since 1972 and have probably flown in with 6-7 different outfitters over the years to numerous outposts. Your Mojikit South camp is clearly the nicest camp I have been to. The cabin is beautiful and roomy. Great kitchen and dining area. Beautiful screened in deck and outside porch overlooking the channel. Large chest freezer and a frig that actually keeps things cold. Screened in fishing cleaning house with running water. Bedrooms that are roomy. Vaulted ceiling the the cabin is a plus. The cabin is centrally located to both the lake and the Ogoki Reservoir.
The boats are the best that Ive ever experienced at an outpost. The inside bottoms consist of flat carpeted panels. easy to get in and out of. 1st time Ive fished an outpost with "dry" feet. The boats had comfortable swivel seats and 15 & 20 hp 4-stroke engines that worked great.
We will definitely be back. Everything about Ogoki Frontier was quality. My two grandchildren had the time of their lives, as did the other 2 members of our party. Thanks for the memories.
