McQueen didn't care if his clothes didn't sell. He wanted to make a statement. His fashion shows were his gallery shows. The female body the canvas that he embroidered with his daring and crude art. He wanted to make women seem stronger, something he always wanted to do for his sister who was physically abused by her husband and McQueen's rapist. He was a beautiful soul. He will forever be missed.

He really was s genius! Look at this show!
Guy DC (2 months ago)
The man was a genius.
Of course he had to leave this mundane world. Genius doesn’t have enough oxygen in this day and age. My deepest respect to him as an artist.
Akshaya Sakthivel (2 months ago)

THIS is how to Fashion Show
Mitchell White (2 months ago)
Some disturbingly atrocious imagery here. A couple of good..not great..but mostly violently abusive to women..and those that actually love them as well. When did ugly become beautiful?
Will DeShazo (26 days ago)
Beauty is everywhere in the current world. Why would you want beauty when everyone else has it. Reality is ugly and that’s what McQueen represented. His work shouldn’t be viewed as just something to wear but as art.
Hannah Jaglinski (2 months ago)
That's not ugly, that's revolutionary. Mcqueen used shock to comment on things he saw. May i ask where you saw violence? I saw none.
Lilmisscostumedrama (2 months ago)
Violence towards women? Where?
Tiffany (2 months ago)
Mitchell White it’s called art, even back in the days many form of art are already disturbing

Dani (2 months ago)
uhm what was the fat one with the feeding tube in the box about?
Mina (2 months ago)
Dani It’s a recreation of Joel Peter Witkin’s Sanitarium. It’s supposed to symbolize that while on the outside a person may be glorious and beautiful, they could be a disaster inside. I find it to be one of his most powerful moments. I hope this helps :)

Budgetin. in (2 months ago)
But why naked/topless? What is the points of topless?
Mrembo Mweusi (1 month ago)
He was abused by his sisters husband as a young boy who was also quite abusive to his sister. Some of those pieces represented their dark shared past of sexual abuse and still being strong, feminine, angry etc. Watch the documentary it was excellent
Budgetin. in (2 months ago)
+Mina thats the point, art has no religion, art has no Shame, art means freedom, art doesnt want to be related to religion or rules. Means art is human's thought (ego),
Mina (2 months ago)
Well first off, when it comes to art nudity isn’t considered what you would usually call “sexualizing a body”. Artists use nudity to symbolize many different things. Lee has used it previously to symbolize rape, to interpret art, or to present nihilism. Nudity is just a simple and gorgeous fact of nature, it is present in our most savage moments but it has also been a big part of our culture as we progressed as society, part of our history, art, literature and, well, fashion. So, there isn’t a reason an artist should restrain themselves from using nudity just like they use all the other forms of existence and humanity in order to create. I hope this helped :)

Avea Illium that happens when new designers work for brands. Alessandro Michele has his own sense of design and I think his work should be viewed as different from the 90s or early 2000s.
julien denys (1 month ago)
there is absolutely no fcking way to be sure about that.
Chaddy Ormillo (1 month ago)
John Galliano for Mason Margiela and Iris Van Herpen still pushing boundaries. 💚💙💜💛💖❤
Avea Illium (2 months ago)
+Aeshiryzen Aeschirett Well, in my opinion, Gucci has lost it's charm along with Yohji Yamamoto. Gucci is in that phase where creativity is lost so recelebrating an era becomes crucial. Now, Chanel is another one whose suffering from commercialism. They always dish out "safe"clothes. This year's métiers d'art of Chanel was just some new colours with the same cut. But Chanel is back on it's feet with their spring'19 collection. I loved that one. In my opinion, some of them have lost their magical touch and thus, the excitement is lost. Looking back at last 90's or early 2000's, it's a pity, won't you agree? The others, I'll nod my head and agree willingly.
Aeshiryzen Aeschirett (2 months ago)
+Avea Illium Gucci is a mess but I feel that it is still noteworthy for pushing boundaries. I also think Pierpaolo from Valentino are dishing out artistic collections now and then. Yohji Yamamoto and Gareth Pugh are also noteworthy. Ellie Saab and Gambiattista Valli aren't that edgy on the first place but I think they at least still managed to maintain their identity. Same goes with Jean Paul Gaultier. Dior is probably the one that had suffered with commercialism the most. While Dolce & Gabbana is a whole new level of travesty.
