Your marketing strategy requires two things: a deep understanding of your target customer, and an incredible understanding of various online and offline marketing strategies, techniques, and option. To create a great marketing strategy, you need to understand who you are marketing to. Once you understand the behavior, preferences, and demographics of your target consumer, you can create a great marketing strategy around them. Whenever you work to create a great marketing strategy for your business it must have these four components: 1) scale of people you reach 2) costs that make sense 3) targeting of your target consumer and 4) eventual conversion of site visitors to customers. Notice that the third item of a great marketing strategy is to make sure that you reach your target consumer. It also has a direct effect on the fourth item on that list which is conversion. If you reach the right people who will want your product, they will be more likely to convert into paying customers. The second part of creating a great marketing strategy is making sure that you understand all the possible options you have, and choosing those options which will reach your target customer at good scale and effective cost. Creating a great marketing strategy depends on understanding what marketing strategies, channels and techniques to use when trying to reach your target market at scale and reasonable cost. Many first-time entrepreneurs start out with a simple marketing strategy which is just to promote their business on Facebook, through friend referrals, or social media. But they realize on day one after having launched their business that this strategy is very ineffective. In fact, I have coached many people exactly out of that marketing strategy and helped them have a great marketing strategy. One thing to keep in mind is that it is very important to have a great marketing strategy before you start your business. After you have started, it is much more difficult to change direction because your product is already live and many other things are in motion. Assuming that you chose your target market correctly, if you get cost and scale right, then you have all the makings of a great marketing strategy.
