Hi everyone, I'm Stephanie Klett, host of Discover Wisconsin. If you're anything like me, you've probably spent a lot of time thinking about your ideal home. Well, today we're going behind the scenes to a company that wants to help make your dreams a reality. Join us as we discover Golden Eagle Log Homes in Wisconsin Rapids and joining me to give us a tour of this amazing facility is my friend Jeff Heeg. Hi Jeff. Good morning Stephanie and welcome to Golden Eagle Log Homes. Thank you. Where are we going to go first? I thought this would be a great place to start, it's one of our beautiful log models and it would be a perfect example of our finished product from Golden Eagle. Great. Let's take a look. This is the great room of our Double Eagle deluxe model. This is absolutely gorgeous. Now, Jeff, what makes Golden Eagle Log Homes different from other log home companies? Golden Eagle Log Home sets itself above and beyond the bar in a lot of areas. Number one is some log home companies provide just full logs, other log home companies provide just split logs. Golden Eagle provides both, plus we have a signature hybrid series which is a combination of timber framed, stucco, cedar shake, dry wall, kind of the best of all worlds. Another thing that makes Golden Eagle very unique is our one stop shopping, where everything that you need to complete your package is from Golden Eagle. Well doesn't everyone include a full package when you buy a log home? No, they sure don't, some log home companies their full package, is just the logs. Another company might be just the logs, the roof system and the doors and windows. Golden Eagle provides everything that you need from the sub floor to the roof vent and it's all guaranteed to fit for your home. Well, why do you want a complete package? Well, to me, it is only, common sense. It would be like buying an automobile without tires or a motor, you're going to need that, okay? With Golden Eagle, we provide everything that you need, again, designed and guaranteed to fit, delivered to your site to complete and fulfill your dream. Now how does one go about picking out all the different things they want in their home? Golden Eagle we make that easy also. We have a complete showroom set up next door with all of the components and fixtures to complete your package. I'd love to show that to you. Great. This is our showroom, this is where all of the components can be picked out for the Golden Eagle full log package. Now, what happens if a person doesn't live here in Wisconsin? That's a good question because we build nationwide. We will actually reimburse customers, it's called our travel bucks program, to come here to Wisconsin to do all of their final picks. If that doesn't work, each dealer across the United States has a beautiful Golden Eagle log home model that they can tour and they also have many showrooms in their model. And if that doesn't work, you can always do it online. How does someone go about beginning the process of picking out their home? We always like to sit down with customers and talk budget. Whether it is small, medium or large, we like to talk and give them a ballpark proposal on their project before we have them spend a penny on their plans. And speaking of plans, I would love to show you our complete design department. Okay. Follow me. This is our home design department Stephanie, where we're going to work with your plans or our plans. And, what I mean by our plans is, on our website, we have over one thousand plans that you can choose from and that's usually a very good starting point. Now, what if a person wants to change their plan? Believe me that happens all the time and as long as your changes are buildable, our design can make your changes work and personalize your home for your life. I'm getting pumped up about building a log home, what's next? The next step would be to show you our log production facility. This area is the heart of our log manufacturing, over here the dried log cants or squares are being fed into the first machine. This first machine creates the pattern on the log, a round, D-shape, a square, Swedish cope, dovetail, excetera. The same machine also mills our split logs and half logs. If you look closely you may notice that the logs that are going into the machine look dark and weathered, the weathered look is part of the drying process. And after the logs go through this first milling process, they look like brand new again. If the customer wants their logs to have the rustic peeled look, then the same logs will automatically feed through the second log milling machine, which is the custom peeling machine...
