01:58
Experience life as a Royal during this Privileged Access tour of Versailles. Join our expert, City Wonders' guide as they lead you behind closed doors and show you the secret rooms and hidden private quarters that tell the incredible story of this legendary palace. More Info: http://www.citywonders.com/en/france/paris/paris-tours/versailles-tour-full-day-vip Contact Us: Rome +39 0683360561 Dublin +353 (0)18814400 Toll Free Numbers: USA & Canada: (+1) 800 358 1942 UK: (+44) 800 088 5556 Spain: (+34) 900 838 432 Hours of Operation: Daily: 06:00AM – 08:30PM GMT+1 01:00 AM – 3:30PM EST Full Transcript: Herve: My name is Herve and I'm giving the Prestige Tour in Versailles. Today we're going to be going behind the scenes. Here we are in the nave of the Chapel Saint Louis inside the palace and as you see, we get to go in the nave, which is not the case for most people. I love being a tour guide and specifically on the Prestige Tour, because I get to open the doors that we're not supposed to open. We are in the bathroom of Marie Antoinette. How come there's a bed in the bathroom? For the reason that in those days, doctors would say that taking a bath would weaken your body, so after taking a bath, you had to lie down. Now we arrive behind Marie Antoinette's bedroom. So Marie Antoinette fled through here, going from her bedroom to the Salon of the Bull's Eyes, and to the king's bedroom when the palace was attacked. Louis XV was very well known for having many, many mistresses, but Madame de Pompadour is the main one. She was treated like she was a queen, even though she wasn't, and that's why she was hated. Here we are in front of the Petit Trianon. The Petit Trianon is Marie Antoinette's estate. Queen Marie Antoinette used to say that when she was at Trianon, she was not the Queen, but she was herself. This is the hamlet. The idea was to recreate a village of Normandy. It had to look very natural. Man: We got into the background. That was just amazing. That's what makes it VIP, very special. I would give the tour a 10 out of 5.
Day Trip from Milan to Lake Como, Bellagio, & Lugano, Switzerland

01:45
Bask in the beauty of Lake Como as you take a lake cruise past the villas of George Clooney and Richard Branson. Stock up on some divine Swiss chocolate in Lugano and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, also known as “the pearl of Lake Como”. This tour takes you to three breath-taking Alpine destinations in two countries in a single day from Milan! More Info: http://www.citywonders.com/en/italy/milan/milan-tours/lake-como-day-trips-lake-lugano Contact Us: Rome +39 0683360561 Dublin +353 (0)18814400 Toll Free Numbers: USA & Canada: (+1) 800 358 1942 UK: (+44) 800 088 5556 Spain: (+34) 900 838 432 Hours of Operation: Daily: 06:00AM – 08:30PM GMT+1 01:00 AM – 3:30PM EST Full Transcript: Narrator: Welcome to the wonderful City Wonders tour. We're here for a full day tour to go see Lago di Como, Bellagio, and then we're going to make our way into another country. We also do this incredible two hour cruise. We get to have a wonderful view of all of the beautiful villas that are along the lake. And get a peek at some of the incredibly famous celebrities that live around here, hopefully. We know that George Clooney has his house here. We also have Richard Branson of the Virgin Enterprises here, and you can also have a peek at some incredible settings for movies. Of course, my favorite stop on the entire tour is Bellagio. Bellagio truly is the pearl of Lago di Como where we have incredible romantic streets, beautiful little stores to peek in and, of course, restaurants with incredible views. So welcome to Lugano in Switzerland, our second stop. So one wonderful thing about Switzerland is it has some of the best chocolate in the world, and I bet you didn't know that the invention of milk chocolate was actually something that happened here in Switzerland in 1875. Female: I really enjoyed today because we got to see two countries and two lakes in one day. I think it was an amazing experience, and we had headsets so you can hear your guide at all times. I would definitely rate this City Wonders tour five stars out of five.
VIP Tour of Versailles with Secret Apartments & Gardens

01:48
Travel like a VIP with our Skip The Line entrance to Versailles with special access to the royals’ opulent private quarters, a City Wonder's exclusive! Marvel at the Palace's spectacular gardens and even enjoy the stunning fountain show which was once reserved for Royalty. Everyone who comes to Versailles is a part of history. What happened here at Versailles in the 17th and 18th centuries affected the way nations and cultures around the world think about authority, government, and national pride. This Versailles VIP tour does have the skip the line feature, which means that you get to go in straight past the long line of people queuing up to enter the palace. And then once you get into the private apartments, for much of the time, our group is alone, and we don't even mingle with the rest of the crowd. Louis XIV, I said, he always lived in public. He lived in the big rooms that we are going to see later. But that doesn't mean he didn't use these rooms. Louis XIV was a collector. The treaties that created the United States were signed in Versailles and in Paris. Female: The best part was being in the rooms back behind the scenes, especially when you saw the crowds when you came out from where the kings would go back in and out. Narrator: Now you've emerged from the private apartments into the state apartments. The apartments intended to blow everyone's minds. And you can see why the kings, later Louis XV and Louis XVI, they didn't want to live in these rooms. They're too big. And they also didn't want to change them. They're too magnificent. The French gardening style must be understood as the triumph of man over nature. Male: The tour today was, in a single word, outstanding. It really was just a very great experience.

With round trip transportation from Paris and a delicious lunch of local produce, this tour promises to be educational, enlightening and truly enjoyable. More Info: http://www.citywonders.com/en/france/paris/paris-tours/normandy-tours-from-paris Contact Us: Rome +39 0683360561 Dublin +353 (0)18814400 Toll Free Numbers: USA & Canada: (+1) 800 358 1942 UK: (+44) 800 088 5556 Spain: (+34) 900 838 432 Hours of Operation: Daily: 06:00AM – 08:30PM GMT+1 01:00 AM – 3:30PM EST Full Transcript: Julia: My name's Julia, and I'm the City Wonders guide for the Normandy tour. This tour is unique because we get to see both Utah and Omaha beaches in a day trip from Paris. Woman 1: I thought the visit to Utah beach was great. It was beautiful. I was excited to be part of the day, to see that. Man 1: It's a humbling experience really to go to Normandy beach. Something that I think that'll change our life forever. Woman 2: I really enjoyed going to the cider farms. It was just quite wonderful to see the product and how they grow it, and the pride that they take in their product. Man 2: The lunch was excellent, too. It was just wonderful, and the restaurant was a very nice restaurant. Julia: So you can imagine what it was like on D-Day standing up there and seeing all the ships coming in all directions and all the soldiers. Man 2: Probably the most overwhelming thing for me was the visit to the American Cemetery. Seeing all those crosses and realizing the thousands of soldiers that died that day during that battle with Normandy was, just frankly, an overwhelming feeling to me. Man 1: The guides were extremely helpful and informative. They really did an excellent job. We really got so much out of the experience. And to think that our soldiers, our allies fought for us during World War II is really a humbling experience, and we'll never forget it. Julia: This tour's really special to me because my grandfather took part the D-Day landings, so every time I come here, I always think about him.

Today, we're going to be doing the Colosseum group tour. We get to see some of the ancient structures of the city. We get to travel through time really. We see the Colosseum. We go all the way through the Forum experiencing ancient Roman life. We end up in the Emperor's Palace on the Palatine Hill. The Colosseum is a series of concentric rings. The outer ring wall is the tallest. We have seven of them, one within the other. The further towards the center you go, the lower the wall. Male: I thought the guide was fantastic today. Having the wireless earphones to hear through, fantastic. You can go at your pace and hear everything he's saying. Seth: Wonderful thing about City Wonders is that we can skip the line right here. We get a pass that allows us to do that. This is the Forum proper right here. The Forum proper is essentially a rectangular plaza surrounded by four streets. We're standing on one of them surrounded by large buildings that are religious, commercial, and government. You must appreciate the fact that this is the Imperial Palace and this was the most elegant, exquisite, sophisticated art that you would find. The palace's walls were completely covered with marble. We give you the off the beaten track paths of Rome. We show you those things that are not on standard tours that you can find anywhere else. We make you see the city in a way that no one else can. Male: Grading this tour out of one to five, I would give it a five definitely.

We visit the catacombs, we visit St. Clement's Church, and we visit the bone crypt covered with 3,700 Capuchin friar's skeletons. Narrator: Our bus is just there for us. Make yourselves comfortable, rest those feet. All right, this corridor has a few of the tombs that have not been disturbed. The group sizes are really small. so that's nice. The Normans came to Rome and they burned St. Clement's church. So in the early 12th century they built a new church to Clement on top of the old one. We have special access to a lot of our sites where we get to go through our own entrance way just for City Wonders clients. So welcome to the Capuchin crypt. We have six rooms, five of which are entirely decorated with the bones of the Capuchins. Most visitors coming to Rome barely touch the tip of the iceberg, but this tour allows us to go 20 meters, 60 feet below the street level. Our visitors come away with a greater appreciation of Rome as the archaeological lasagna and all the layers of history.

This is the Villa Wine Tasting with Dinner. This tour is set on a 15th century villa that is set in the hills of Florence with the most gorgeous views possible. We eat fresh food that is cooked with ingredients that are grown here locally, and we taste award winning wines. Female 2: I've never learned how to really experience wine in the right way, so the guide showed us how to spin the wine around and breathe in the flavor of the wine. She was very informative. It was fun. Female 1: They say that wine tasting is actually wine smelling because we have five million receptors in the back of our nose. Here's the bruschetta and this is made, actually, with the tomatoes that are grown here in the gardens of Villa Le Piazzole. Female 2: Another aspect that I really enjoyed was meeting the people who run this place and they've been here for many years. They're very knowledgeable. We learned a lot. Also, I got to crush the grapes as well, which was lots of fun. A little bit messy, but it was really enjoyable. I loved it. Female 3: I have been on another wine tour in Italy but this was definitely better. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was wonderful. I would definitely give this tour five out of five without a doubt.

I work for City Wonders and today I'm going to be doing the Colosseum for Kids Tour. The Colosseum Kids Tour is unlike any other tour in the city because it's specifically aimed towards children. And it's shorter, which means the kids don't get tired. They get to go see things that they really want to see, the Colosseum. They want to hear about the gladiators. We can play games that keeps it interesting. Do you want to go inside the Colosseum? Kids: Yeah. Rachel: Yeah? But we don't want to wait in line, no? No? Okay, let's go straight inside and skip the line. This is where we used to sit to watch the gladiators. Yeah, here. Imagine above you marbled seats. Like the seats over there. You see those seats, and be Roman kings for the day. Yeah? Behind me here is this big arch, yeah? This is the Arch of Constantine, all right. You know why he built it? He built it because he was victorious in a big, big battle. Every time a Roman emperor defeated his enemies he'd come here to Rome. And you know what he had? A big parade, a big party. Female: Today we had a wonderful day. We went on a City Wonders tour with the kids, and it was really, really fun. The tour guide was really kid-friendly so they really enjoyed themselves and learned something at the same time. Rachel: Everyone thinks history is boring, and I just want to explain to people that history isn't boring. It's fun, it's entertaining, it's interactive. Kid: I had fun!

I love Capri because I can still see the same beauty that has been here for literally millions of years. When I have clients, I get to relive the wonderment of seeing Capri for the first time. Male 2: I looked at the public transportation here and the impression that I got was that it is very crowded at times. Having a private bus here made a lot of difference, and that is one of the best parts of the tour. Male 1: I love this tour because it shows you both towns, Capri and Anacapri, and you get a little free time to look at the shops and a few of the sites. On the left, we have the patron saint of our town of Anacapri, Saint Anthony, San Antonio de Padua. Also, you have an opportunity to taste the wonderful limoncello and smell the beautiful Carthusia perfume, which are both local products of the island. The limoncello, it's made out of local lemons, the femminello lemon, which gives us three crops a year. Cheers everybody. Let's have a look at how the perfume is produced. What I love about this tour is that you have the option of going by boat to visit the world famous Blue Grotto. Female: I learned a tremendous amount, and I'll be able to take that home with me and remember it and cherish it forever. Male 2: I don't think there's any other rating to be given there, definitely a five, yeah.
