As part of Unilever's Enterprise and Technology Solutions, the Application management team plays a key role in running our systems on a day to day basis. The Support teams are responsible for critical operations of our applications that include areas like Incident, Service request and Problem Management. This is the heart of our global operations, where Unilever managers and tier-1 supplier work together as one team to deliver a resilient application landscape that our business runs on. On an average day, a Unilever Application support Manager should expect to: a. Use their functional expertise in resolving IT issues that impact Unilever Business Operations b. Engage with Suppliers to ensure delivery of services. c. Drive various initiatives in the Application Support areas to either reduce costs or improve application availability. Application Management supports various technology platforms like SAP and Oracle, along with bespoke applications. Application Support Manager should bring technical and functional expertise to the table, which will help guide the support teams towards issue resolution. Apart from education background and relevant experience, this role requires an understanding of ITIL processes, techno-functional background in the application being supported; this will help priorities operations and direct focus to issues with deeper business impact and partnering with Tier1 Suppliers to deliver support capabilities. A typical goal plan of an Application Support Manager comprises of 3 general areas, to improve and ensure business process availability, reduce operational costs and lead resolution of key issues from the front. All the above need to be delivered keeping Unilever values in mind. Enterprise Solutions is a global team with a large hub in Bangalore and also teams across Europe, Turkey, North America and Latin America. This team is responsible for Unilever’s core ERP and global applications. The team runs a very large SAP platform with 4 regional instances covering operations in 190 countries with over 50000 users and 700 factories & warehouses. This ERP platform underpins the Unilever business of nearly 50 billion Euros. In addition to the core SAP ERP we also run a number of surround applications across Supply Chain, Customer Development and Finance processes. We are responsible for the core Design – Build – Run of these applications which includes: · Working with the business and the business partnering teams to look at requirements and ideas · Identifying the right technology solution · Designing & building the solution along with strategic partners · Supporting & managing the application and driving usage and value We have a number of large, interesting & critical programs underway in Enterprise Solutions • A large program in order-to-cash that aims at driving efficiencies and improving our customer service. In this we use apart from core SAP modules, we are also leveraging SAP-CRM & Event Mgmt • We have a large global program on logistics optimisation. This is powered by Oracle Transportation management. • We are implementing SAP Extended warehouse management across a number of countries • We are implementing SAP PLM and Siemens Team centre solutions across our R&D users • We drive retail execution and perfect stores in our customer development areas with CRM and mobility solutions We also manage the estate with an Operations Control Centre in Bangalore with real time monitoring & professional capabilities.We have strong partnerships with leading software vendors, as well as Tier one System Integrators in managing these solutions. Global Solution Delivery is key role in Enterprise Solutions within Unilever, responsible for end-to-end delivery of large scale, global IT projects with a spend of 5 to 10 million Euros per year. This role requires managing a large team of vendor partners, to ensure delivery of Project milestones on time and within budget. You will work closely with IT Business Partners and Functional SMEs on project delivery with the power to measure and manage all key performance indicators.And you will also beresponsible for transition to support and ensures minimal disruption while landing the project. ‘Project Silkroad’ is for implementation of ‘Oracle Transport management’ in 40 countries across Asia, Africa and ANZ over 4 years. Oracle Transportation Management is the most sophisticated and comprehensive application of its kind and enables Unilever to manage its transportation networks in terms of Supply chain flows. Be it, Raw material / Pack Material flow from Vendors premise to Factories, or finished goods from factory to Warehouses or Warehouse to Distributors, all legs are optimized using this tool. We started this project with a few key countries like India, South Africa and Indonesia and now Unilever is reaping the efficiencies through this transportation solution resulting in global savings of over 50 million Euros. The entire implementation of Oracle Transportation management is delivered from the Bangalore Centre. This ensures efficient delivery, more informed decision-making and cost effectiveness. I also oversee an SAP development team based out of Istanbul and other onsite resources deployed at other Unilever market clusters. Coordination with multiple system integrators Accenture , Oracle, KPIT in this project and overseeing over 80+ consultants and specialists to ensure project delivery on time. This presents an opportunity, an exciting challenge and an enriching experience. We are looking for people having good project management skills, with excellent IT acumen and appreciation for business functions. You must possess the ability to manage a large and diverse team across geographic locations. This requires a self-driven individual who can take up challenges of delivering large scale IT projects. IT Landscape Manager (LM)is responsible for owning, maintaining and running a bunch of applications like SAP ECC, BW, APO or OTM or even multiple Java or web based applications. IT Landscape manager not only sets the guidelines on how the IT Landscape should run and what are the KPI’s which govern it, IT LM also holds the respective teams accountable for executing the guidelines. IT LM acts as a gatekeeper for system resilience, partnering with local and global project teams to ensure right designs. Any identified gaps are worked out in detail and implemented. The IT Landscape is kept well performing and healthy through functional checks, periodic analysis, continuous improvements, and technical projects in relevant area. IT Landscape Managers are also responsible for coordinating run escalations for complex incidents, issues to achieve target uptime levels for the IT Landscape. IT LM is responsible for ensuring • the performance of the IT Landscape is optimal, • the upgrade schedules are agreed and followed, • change and release schedules are adhered to, • meet project requirements for any technical IT Landscape planning • keeping the IT Landscape secure. IT LM sets the expectation on the performance standard, does the analysis if the performance is not as expected and drives actions with the respective teams. IT LM will be responsible for setting the agenda for upgrades and executing them. The LM works with the technical, functional and vendor teams like SAP, Oracle etc to carry out the upgrade, testing and safeguard the IT Landscape while doing it. IT LM will be responsible for creating a change release calendar and running the change and release process for the IT Landscape. The LM works with the global change management team to ensure the release calendar is globally aligned and published and with the business partners to ensure the projects release dates are aligned to the calendar. In doing this, the LM will work with multiple internal and external teams to influence and align the teams to the common agenda and align how the IT Landscape will run and perform. The LM will need to groom teams and people to deliver their best. We are looking for talented individuals, who absolutely love technology and understand it. You should be open to understanding multiple kinds of applications and work with diverse audiences. The role of the innovation subject matter expert is one of the most exciting roles in Enterprise Solutions. As a subject matter expert, one is expected to know the business processes like order to cash, financials etc and also the right tools and technology to support the business process. SME marries the requirement to the technology and designing how it should run. A SME is responsible for working closely with the business partners to identify the right technologies and solutions that need to be put in place. SME will be working on projects which will be global in nature like designing the transportation solution for multiple countries or a customer service process for multiple types of markets. SME will need to work with other global and regional stakeholders to mitigate the cross functional impact, ensure the required inputs are taken on board and work with global teams to ensure safe landing of the project. A SME will also work with multiple IT product companies like SAP, Oracle not only for the existing business requirements but also to identify what would be the capability of the future and see if we can present it back to business so that Unilever is ahead of the curve. One can take the ideas that you see in multiple forums like SAP Teched and others back to business to see what will strike a chord with the business and fit into the business priorities. The factors that make this role challenging are you will be managing people anywhere from 20 to 100+ of cross vendor teams. You will be building long term relationships with tier 1 vendors like Accenture, IBM, Cognizant and E&Y. In addition, in every solutions we land, the SME will need to ensure that they are scalable, resilient and with low TCO. You will also be working on programs for continuous improvement and simplifications, which will yield business satisfaction with faster, more stable processes. You will be able to see the difference you make to the business with these programs and gain appreciation for the same. Your stakeholders will range from business partners, the business leads, support leads, and other innovation leads and so on. You will be exposed to multi cultural working with your stakeholders across multiple parts of the world.
