A series of videos explaining Information Technology for IT Recruiters. This would help IT Recruiters. Text: I thought I could start this video series that could help IT Recruiters. I understand that IT Recruiting is one among the challenging jobs out there, as it requires not only the people skills but also a wide variety of technical knowledge as well. For example, let us just say a company hires a new recruiter. During the interview process the recruiting skills of that recruiter has been tested. Everything was fine. Now, being on the job, that recruiter was given 5 positions to fill. That recruiter has to find candidates for these following positions. 1 x Windows Administrator with SAN knowledge 1 x Tools and Development Engineer with Shell Scripting 2 * Oracle DBAs with RMAN and Oracle Streams expertise 1 * SAP Basis position with SAP portal expertise So the recruiter publishes these requirements. After that resumes come in. The next part is to have a phone conversation with the candidates whose resume look good. In this conversation, which can also be called as 'initial phone screening', the emphasis will be mostly on the non-technical aspects. The candidate will not be tested for his or her technical skills. The technical interviews will be setup later. However it would be good if the recruiter can have a little bit of a technical conversation at that point. That might help to decide if the candidate can have a second interview at all, thereby saving the time and resources needed. For example, during an initial screening with an Oracle DBA candidate, the recruiter can ask 'Have you used RMAN for database backups? What is the backup policy in your current environment?' This question is not highly technical but would make the candidate to speak some sentences about RMAN backups. This would enable the recruiter to get some insights of the candidate's ability and validity of what is being claimed in the resume. So, I hope this series of lessons will provide a quick and crisp overview of these technological keywords being used in the job descriptions and resumes, thereby helping the recruiters.

Now let us take a close look at these octaves. How do I refer each piano key? Suppose if I want to play this piano-key, how do I tell someone that I am going to play this piano-key? Can I say, I am going to press the first piano key of the third octave? Probably yes. But that would be confusing. So what can we do? This is where the NOTES come into picture. Music Theory names the piano-keys with a name. The names consists of just an alphabet. You will see some numbers and symbols after the alphabets. I will explain about them later. The first piano-key in an octave is called as C. The next one as D. Then E, F, G. Now it goes to A and ends with a B. If you look at the next OCTAVE, you would notice that this naming standard repeats there too. From C to G, then to A and B. Now things get a little easier. I can refer this piano-key as Note C2. Because it is the Note C which belongs to the Octave 2. Then this is A4. As this is the Note A in the Octave 4. Also from now on, I am not going to refer these piano-keys as piano keys. Instead I am going to refer them as Notes. Why? Because, in Music Theory, the word KEY represents something else, which we will cover later, and I do not want you to confuse a Piano-key with that KEY.

The clients will use the Web Servers to browse a company's website. 2. The Website will present the applications to the clients. 3. For example, if it is a railway website, there could be ticketing application. 4. The application will in-turn talk to a database in the backend. 5. To do that, it has to connect using an user name. 6. That user will also be a generic user, meaning that, it will not be attached to any employees. 7. That user will have access to the objects owned by the schema. 8. That user is called as the 'application user'.

Now let us take a look into this ‘Steps per beat’. From the previous video, remember our settings. It is still in these. Beat per bar is 4 and Steps per beat is 1. Now let me play the metronome and record a melody. I know that each rhythm note is a beat and I have 4 beats per bar. Let me record the melody. And paste it in the playlist. Then let me make a rhythm for it. Here, I can play only one rhythm note in beat. This single note fills the entire gap between two beats. What is I wanted to play more rhythm notes those gaps? FL Studio allows us to do that by splitting the beat into two or more steps. If I split a beat into 4 steps, then the first step falls on the beat. The next three steps fills in the gap between that beat and the next beat. And it goes like that. Why do we need that? To make the rhythm interesting. Otherwise the rhythm could get boring. So, this option ‘Steps per beat’ specifies the number of steps in beat. What is FL Studio? FL Studio is a leading Music Production System which can be used to compose and create songs. If you are into song composition, FL Studio might help you. Also, I hope this tutorial series is helpful.

Oracle 12c Database New Features - Pluggable Database - Video 1 1. Pluggable Database * Oracle 12c introduces a new feature called 'Pluggable Database'. Here Oracle Metadata and user data are totally separated into two sections. One is Container DB (or CDB) which will hold Oracle Metadata. The other is Pluggable DB (or PDB) which will hold user data. How does a Pluggable Database work? In the regular database, Oracle's metadata and user's application data are integrated. For beginners, Oracle Metadata is the data that is present when you install a new Oracle Database (without any sample schemas). Even though it can be called as an empty database, it still has data provided by Oracle. This data is needed by the database to function. For example, the objects owned by SYS, SYSTEM are mostly metadata. Then user data is entered into that database. They will go under multiple user schemas. Now the database is being used by the users. Now a situation arises so that we need to create another database on the same server. Why? Let us say that you need to provide data to two clients. And you don't want one client to other's data. And your data is contained in an extensive set of application schemas. In this case, making a copy of those applications schemas into a different set of names and making them reside in the same database is very difficult. So, you provide two separate databases. This also ensures that there is no security violation. So, we install another new database, which comes with Oracle Metadata. Then we load the user data. In this method, which is currently being used (Year 2013), there will be a need for more memory for both the database instances. There will be two SGAs, two sets of smon, pmon and other background processes running. Then if we need to copy one database to another, we need to rely on extensive procedures which includes exporting the data from the source database first, then removing the data at the target and then finally loading the data in there. After that, we need to take care of the user security and object privileges etc. So, if you want to provide data for multiple tenants, that is multiple clients, then with the current set of features (till Oracle 11g), we have to create multiple databases. That is, one database for one client. In otherwords, there is no multi-tenancy. Multi-Tenancy is becoming an important requirement in cloud infrastructure, these days. You would like to have the ability of providing data to multiple clients from the same database system with full confidence in security. This can be achieved in Pluggable Database. In a Pluggable Database, Oracle basically separates its metadata entirely from the user data. Metadata is stored in a section called Container DB. Then the user data are stored in Pluggable DBs. It also stores user metadata in the Pluggable DB. By the way, what is user metadata? For example, earlier, the list of user accounts that exist in a database is tightly inegrated with Oracle Metadata. Now, with the separation of Container DB and Pluggable DB, the user accounts must exist in the Pluggable DB. So, the Pluggable DB not only contains user data, but also some user metadata. So, what are the benefits? * Multi-Tenancy - We can bring in two Pluggable DBs under one Container DB. Both will be totally segregated, but yet controlled by one instance. This is an important feature for SaaS (Software as a Service) platforms, Cloud, On-Demand and Vendor Managed Application solutions. * Easy cloning/copying. Now the cloning and copying the databases across servers would be much easier. Just clone a Pluggable DB and plug-it-in in a different server. * Very easy upgrades and patching.

What is Oracle Real Application Cluster? - IT Shorts Series You go to a bank. And there is a teller. Actually there is only one teller. What happens? All the people wait in line. The teller acts as an interface between the client and the bank's documentation system. Right? Now imagine, there are two tellers. The queue can move faster. Why? Because two tellers can serve more people than one teller in a given time. However, both the tellers would access the same bank's documentation system. Now, imagine a regular, standalone Oracle database system. One database server, Talking to one storage device where the database is stored. And that server serves the clients. Now, let me add one more database server. And make this server to access the same database stored in that same storage device. Now, two servers can serve those clients more efficiently. If one server goes down, the service is still online. Because the other is still serving. This is called Oracle Real Application Cluster. Oracle Real Application Cluster can address scalability and high-availability requirements of an organization.
